In those few spots, one-bedrooms averaged about $2,000\u2014up 3% from last year\u2014and two-bedrooms averaged $2,700, up 4%. It looks like some of that could be tied to college towns getting ready for the new school year. If you\u2019re curious, San Marcos had one of the biggest yearly jumps for one-bedrooms at $2,430, with Encinitas topping $2,950. Oceanside, Orange, and Riverside all saw similar 3% increases.<\/p>\n<p>But here\u2019s the other side of the coin: Because there\u2019s been a bit more construction and demand has softened, many landlords are competing harder to fill their places\u2014which means renters have more choices right now. Some areas like Lancaster, Redondo Beach, Coronado, West Hollywood, Pasadena, Oxnard, LA, Glendale, and Burbank are even seeing notable price drops.
